Welcome to Elm’s Class Webpage

Welcome to our web page. Hopefully this will enable you to see what creative and
exciting things we are doing in our class this year. We look forward to sharing with
you all of the wonderful things we are doing in class.
We are very proud of our  classroom and outdoor area.  We hope you will come and
spend some time with us during our regular Stay and Play sessions.  Come and see
our displays in a morning when you bring your child to school.  We love celebrating
the children's achievements by placing their work around the classroom.
We have a lot of fun in Reception learning through play.  We hope we develop a
love of learning which stays with your child for their entire school experience.
Please look at our class pages which will give you more information about the Early
Years curriculum and the activities we do.

Useful Information

 Mrs Millington works Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Mrs Whittaker works
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
 Homework will be given out every Friday and needs to be returned at the latest
by the following Tuesday
 Outdoor Play - We spend a lot of time outside and your child will need a
spare change of clothes in school as we play in water and our mud kitchen.
We provide waterproofs but children can still become muddy and wet.
 Warm Clothing - Please ensure your child has a suitable coat and footwear
for the Autumn weather.  All children will need a labelled hat when the
weather starts to become cold.
 PE - PE is on a Thursday and every child needs a complete PE kit in school
which will be sent home every half term.  If it needs washing sooner than
this we will send it home to you.
 Children need their reading book in school every day. Reading at home is one
of the most important things you can do to support your child with their
learning. Try to read with them for 10 minutes every day, asking them questions

about what they have read to help them with their comprehension skills. We
will get them to change their books as often as we feel it is needed.

Autumn Term
What Makes Me Special?

In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), we use a cross curricular approach to
teaching. This term we are focussing on getting to know each child and building
relationships with everyone. We will be learning all about your child and your
family. If there are any photographs or information you would like to share with
us please do not hesitate to do so by speaking with us or sending information on
our DoJo page.
Keep checking back to see some of the amazing work as we produce it!

Our Class Timetable:

Letters and Sounds - every day we practice learning to recognise letters and
sounds.  The children are encouraged to use the skills all day long to ensure they
are developing their reading and writing skills.
Maths Time - Each day we practice our Mathematics skills and we have a lot of fun
paying games which enhance our skills.
Literacy Skills - We read a book each day and develop our talking skills by
discussing it in talk partners and as a whole class.  We then write every day,
focusing on developing our spelling and handwriting skills.
