Useful Information:

  • We will be continuing with Forest School this half term. The children have already been divided into two groups and will continue in these groups, alternating each week. The children who do not go out to do Forest School will be enjoying exciting Science lessons with Miss Taylor. Children MUST have a change of clothes for Forest School including full length trousers and top, sensible footwear is also essential.
  • All children will need the correct PE kit and trainers/pumps for their PE lessons which will be taking place on a Wednesday. However, children are encouraged to leave their kit in school for the duration of the half-term as there could changes to PE days or extra sessions available during lunch time. For health and safety reasons, we would like children to take out their earings for PE or we will cover them with plasters.

  • Homework will be given to children on a Friday and should be handed in no later than Wednesday. This should be completed in your child’s homework book unless otherwise stated.

  • Reading books and reading records should be brought to school daily. Please try to listen to your child read at home as frequently as possible.

We will do individual and guided reading with your children each week and they can change their home reading books as required. However, we encourage you to access the school library on a Thursday after school for additional books.  Reading with your child every night is the most important way you can support your child to make progress. Comprehension is very important, so whenever you are reading with your child make sure you ask them lots of questions about what they are reading.

The knowledge of times tables are of high importance to help with all aspects of Maths. Your child will have weekly times tables practice. Please ask your child which times table they are currently working on and test away! Let's see whether they can reach the Gold times table challenge or beyond!

Please feel free to come and talk to us if you have any questions.

What we are currently learning about:

Summer Term 2:

Here at Meadowsdie, we have a text based curriculum and this half-term, we will be continuing our focus on 'How to Live Forever' by Colin Thompson, we have already enjoyed looking at the illustrations in the book and written a detailed set of diary entries, setting descriptions and debated about the pros and cons of living forever.  Moving forward, this half-term we will continue to link the text into a range of different subjects.  For example, we will be looking at Christopher Columbus and writing a biography, this links in with Georgraphy where we will be enhancing our map reading skills. We are also hoping to design and create vessels which will be tested on their abilty to float (whilst holding various weights).

So, if you have any old bottles or other various household items that you can spare, we would greatly appreciate if you could bring them in.

Thank you.
