Welcome to Year 5

Willow Class Web Page

Mr McClafferty     Mrs Barlow

Welcome to our class web page. This is the place to come to discover what is going on in Willow Class. We will be regularly posting updates so you can view our amazing work, exciting learning adventures and the fun that we are having in class! Keep checking back to see more wonderful things as the year progresses and check out our blog posts at the bottom to find out what we have been up to!

Useful Information

  • Homework will be given out every Friday and needs to be returned, at the latest, by the following Wednesday. Homework tasks will be written in the reading diaries each week. If there are any problems with homework, speak to any of our Year 5 team who will be happy to help.

  • P.E. will be every Thursday. Make sure your child has the correct P.E. kit (white t-shirt, black shorts/ jogging bottoms/ leggings and pumps or trainers). If possible, please leave P.E. kits in school for the half term, as we may do extra P.E. sessions in the week.

  • Your child needs their reading book and diary in school every day! Reading at home is one of the most important things you can do to support your child with their learning. We expect them to read at least three times a week at home and to have their reading diary signed weekly by a parent/carer. The school library is open every lunch time for children to change books.

  • Maths-Whizz, and Reading Plus or Reading Eggs usernames and passwords will be in their Reading Diary. Help our class to win extra points by logging on at home!

  • Your child should know all of their times tables by the time they get to year 5! Keep practising at home to make sure they don't forget.

Spring Term

Imgaine if... you'd been asleep for 100 years

This term we will be focussing on what life would be like if we had fallen asleep for 100 years - how much different would it be?As our main class book, we will be looking at Jack and the Baked Beanstalk and later on in the term, The Sleeper and the Spindle.

Keep checking back to see some of the fantastic things we are learning and the progress we are making throughout the year!

Please come and see us if you have any questions. We are always available at the end of the day, on the phone, or on ClassDojo, if you need us!
