2 Year Olds Nursery - Daisies Class 2017 - 2018

Mrs Bleasdale

Nursery Daisies Class (2 Year Olds) - Lead Practitioner

In our exciting provision for 2 year olds, there are three Early educators in this room called Mrs Bleasdale, Miss Daniels and Miss Walker. There is a positive ratio of one adult to four children. This allows excellent relationships to be developed between staff and children.

The Nursery is divided into learning areas where children undertake different activities.  E.g. The following areas:  reading, construction, quiet, creative, ICT, investigation, writing, malleable, water, sand and a home corner role play .   Children can learn independently or follow an adult led activity.  The children will be able to develop their learning indoors or outdoors. Resources have been carefully designed to be accessible, allowing children to choose the ones they need and return them after use.

The day is split into two sessions and has the following activities:

Morning session 8:40-11:40

All of the following activities do not have a set time, as they are determined by what the children are engaged in.

Snack time as a group

Focused activity

Independent learning time

Tidy up time

Story time

Afternoon session 12:20-3:20

All of the following activities do not have a set time, as they are determined by what the children are engaged in.

Snack time as a group

Story time

Every child’s learning is planned for in a personalised manner.  We take their interests into consideration and aim to engage them to develop a lifelong love of learning.  We ensure we get to know your child and understand their individual needs.  We can access outside agencies for support if needed.

Snacks

Please be aware that your child will receive a healthy snack, for example toast, pancakes, cereal etc. Alongside this the children will receive free school fruit and vegetables. We provide milk to drink and they always have access to water.

There is no cost for this snack.

When children come into school their learning will be developed in seven areas:

Prime Areas

Personal Social and Emotional Development

Physical Development

Communication and Language

Specific Areas

Literacy

Mathematics

Understating of the World

Expressive Arts and Design

These areas continue when the children eventually start Nursery at the age of 3 to 4.

During their early years children learn most effectively through exploration, play and interaction with other children and adults.  This is reflected in the organisation of the day in the Foundation Stage class.  Learning is, however, very carefully planned and structured to ensure progression.

Information about staffing in the setting is available in the Learning Journal along with information about the name of the child’s key person.

We provide activities to encourage early writing and reading.

To enable your child to develop further, we will send home information regarding our current learning/topic for you and your child to continue at home.
